Foodbank Queensland relies on the critical support of volunteers, staff and Board members to help Queenslanders struggling in the community. The organisation would like to recognise some of the individuals who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to achieving an Australia without hunger.

Sanna Kemppi

Sanna joined Foodbank after taking a 6-hour train ride from her hometown of Coffs Harbour to experience life in the sunshine state. She got her start through a friend at yourtown and enrolled in a warehousing course that prepared her for her duties as a warehouse assistant for Foodbank.

Like many Sanna appreciates the friendly faces and positive attitudes that volunteers and agencies bring out on a day to day basis. Being able to help others and listen to their stories is one of those great gifts and is virtually impossible to experience working within the corporate sector.

Close to completing her certificate III in captive animals Sanna looks forward to being able to volunteer at zoo’s and wild life sanctuaries. A lover of animals it’s no wonder she has two dogs Jake and Shadow to keep her company.

Jody Victory

As the newest addition to our volunteer network, Jody Victory speaks on why giving back is where it’s at.

Having watched the box office hit Lion Jody was surprised at the effect the film had on her not to mention the desire it sparked inside to help the impoverished. From that the next logical step was finding a cause she could really get behind, visiting the Volunteer Queensland website and various other online resources she found herself researching Foodbank. Lucky for us it was a perfect fit and the rest is as they say is history – you can find Jody in the warehouse on a Thursday breaking down stock and greeting agencies as they sign in and begin collecting food for their respective programs.

Outside of volunteering Jody is a mother of two daughters and works for a dance school JAL Dance in Annerley – ironically not a dancer herself she does however enjoy the work and seeing the joy that dance brings to the community.

Foodbank would like to thank Sanna, Jody and the wonderful team that helps the organisation carry out its work as the largest hunger relief provider in Australia. If you’re interested in joining the Foodbank Queensland team, please contact our friendly staff using the details provided…
