‘We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give’
– Winston Churchill –
Volunteering at Foodbank means you’ll make a meaningful contribution in supporting the process, engage with some of our agencies to hear their stories, hear how they distribute and more importantly to hear who it is we help, it is not who you think!
This is light warehouse duties, depending on requirements, is helping to breakdown and sort the pallet deliveries and or repacking fresh produce to ensure we disseminate the product as far and wide as possible, to vulnerable Queenslanders.
Warehouse volunteering is Tuesday and Wednesday with group size a maximum of 10 volunteers per day.
Start Time: 8.00am Finish Time: 12 or 1pm depending on work available!
Location: 179 Beverley St, Morningside – please ensure to enter off Lytton Rd. as the two ends don’t meet!
Parking available on site – enter main gates, turn right into second carpark (ok to double park if required.) Proceed to main office, for a quick induction. Please ensure the team is wearing fully enclosed shoes, such as sneakers and clothes that can get dusty! Morning tea is available on site.
To save time on the day take a moment to fill out our induction forms (one per person) prior and bring along on the day.
SAFETY AND MANUAL HANDLING
When volunteering at Foodbank Queensland please be aware that there are manual handling tasks required. These tasks will involve, but are not limited to, lifting, carrying and stacking products.
If you have a prior medical condition, injury, are pregnant or unsure of undertaking this type of activity, Foodbank strongly recommends you discuss these matters with your health practitioner to ensure it is safe for you to undertake these tasks. You will also be required to provide evidence from your practitioner that you are capable to undertake these manual handling tasks safely.
Contact Foodbank Queensland for more information on volunteer opportunities OR… Take the hassle out of organising volunteer dates over the phone and book through our corporate calendar.
