Joining the team at Foodbank means having an instant impact and making a meaningful contribution. You’ll hear firsthand from front line charities and even beneficiaries of the food, learn how they work and why there is such a need to provide food relief. You may discover it is not the reasons you think!

We have several different volunteering experiences:

Warehouse Worker Bees (general warehouse activities)

There is a job for everyone in our warehouse. You may get a little dusty as you take on light duties that vary depending on daily requirements. This may include breaking down, pallet deliveries, repacking fresh produce, sorting mixed food donations, or labelling donated products, all this ensures we disseminate food and grocery products as far and wide as possible. You get to see the wide variety of products that pass through our facility and soak up the buzz of the warehouse environment.

Financial Contribution: $250 per group (+GST)

Group Size:  Minimum 4, Maximum 10

When:           Every Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm (approx.)

Location:     179 Beverly Street, Morningside – enter off Lytton Road

Hamper Heroes (hamper packing)

Participate in our corporate challenge, pack the most hampers in one shift and get your company name up on our prestigious leader board. Foodbank hampers enable charities to easily provide pantry staples to those most in need. They are used for emergency relief, to help people getting back on their feet and at times of disaster.

Teams will have the chance to meet with front line charities and learn what a difference the gesture of a food hamper can have on those experiencing hardship.

Financial Contribution: $500 per group (+GST)

Group Size:   Minimum 6, Maximum 12

When:            Once a month – Friday, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm (approx.)

Meal Makers (FareShare kitchen experience)

Fancy yourself as a Master Chef?  Regardless of your answer, experience is not required in the FareShare kitchen! Gather a group of colleagues and cook up a storm under the professional guidance of FareShare’s chefs in Australia’s largest charity kitchen. Sharpen your knife skills, use commercial scale equipment and build your team culture in a fun and unique environment. You will work with produce rescued by Foodbank and create nutritious meals that are then distributed by Foodbank to charities across Queensland.

Each group of volunteers finish their shift having made over 1,000 nutritious meals for Queenslanders in need. You will learn about the impact of hunger in our community and leave with a real understanding of how your efforts directly help disadvantaged Australians.

Financial Contribution: $750 per group (+GST)
